Welcome to the 2022 Dolphins Swim Team!
Dear Briarhills Dolphins,
Welcome to the 2022 Dolphins Swim Team! Can you feel the excitement? We are getting very close to our first day of practice and the official start to our 2022 season. We hope all of our Dolphins are eager and ready to start swimming!
We are happy to announce Anne McKay as our Head Coach again this year. Anne is a Senior at Westside High School. Helping Anne will be Assistant Head Coach, Hannah Dvorachek. Hannah is a Junior at St. Agnes Academy.
In addition to Anne and Hannah, we are also welcoming back Coaches Adam Aly, Noah Mosvold, Estela Nino, Sabrina Nino, Lance Brewster and Megan McKay. And last by not least, new to the coaching team this year is Assistant Coach Amelia Gu.
The coaches are ready to meet all of our new and returning swimmers on our first day of practice at the Briarhills Pool on Wednesday, May 11th. Please check the team calendar for your swimmer's practice time. The calendar is also located on the home page of our website at briarhillsdolphins.swimtopia.com.
FOR FAMILIES NEW TO SWIM TEAM:
The Newcomers Meeting is this Saturday, May 7th. This is a mandatory informational meeting for first year parents only. Returning parents do NOT need to attend. The meeting will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will finish by 10:30 a.m. Please do not be late. We will meet at the picnic tables in front of the Briarhills Pool – 14300 Briarhills Parkway. Children are welcome to play on the playground during the meeting. Please bring a lawn chair so that you can have a comfortable seat during the meeting. We will be covering a lot of information.
For swimmers brand new to the team, swimmer try-outs will be held immediately after the parent meeting. Tryouts are intended to be a very quick assessment. Swimmers should be able to demonstrate swimming a lap of freestyle in under 75 seconds. The purpose of this try-out is strictly to make sure new swimmers know how to swim unassisted and can swim in a group setting. Please do not put pressure on your swimmer to swim fast. As long as they are able to swim one length of the pool in 75 seconds, they will make the team. We will work throughout the season on speed and endurance. Female swimmers are encouraged to wear a one piece swimsuit to try-outs. Male swimmers may wear jammers or swim trunks. All swimmers should bring goggles and a towel.
Those that are not able to make tryouts on Saturday, can try-out on Monday, May 9th from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Please be sure to show up to one of these two try-out sessions.
We are looking forward to a fun season and can't wait to see you all very soon. Be on the lookout for a reminder email next week before the first day of practice.
Go Dolphins!
