Registration for the 2020 swim season will open March 10th for returning members and April 1st for new members.

The 2020 summer swim team season begins in May and continues through the end of June. Please plan your summer vacations accordingly so that you are able to fully participate with the team in 2020.

The official 2020 calendar will be posted by the end of February!

Please note: The Briarhills Dolphins are a competitive swim team. All swimmers must already know how to swim proficiently. This is not a swim school or a learn to swim program.

Also, swimmers must live in either Briarhills, Oaks of Parkway, Meadow Briar, Terraces on Memorial, Parkway Villages or Lakes of Parkway. If you do not live in these neighborhoods, you must receive prior approval to join our team.

During the off-season, The Briarhills Dolphins Board of Directors voted and approved moving the team from the West Houston Aquatic League to the Briar Forest Swim League effective immediately. We hope this change will better accommodate the logistics of our families, keeping the meets close to home and finishing earlier in the evenings, and will also allow the Dolphins to compete with neighboring teams in the Energy Corridor area. More information coming soon!

In order to ensure the safety of all of our swimmers, new swimmers are required to meet certain standards before they may join the Dolphins. Swimmers must be able to legally swim 25 yards (1 length of the pool) freestyle in 75 seconds or less. The swimmer must also be able to stand, safely, in the shallow end of the pool and be able to float on their back. New swimmers will be required to attend a try-out and be evaluated by a coach before the first day of practice.

If you feel your swimmer meets these qualifications, please register for the team and someone from our team will reach out to you to schedule a try-out.

If the coaches feel your child is not ready for swim team, they may recommend that your child take swim lessons elsewhere and re-apply next season. If your child does not qualify for swim team this year, you will be refunded your registration fee less $50. As we want this to be a fun, safe and positive experience for your child, we hope you will understand and appreciate our requirements.

The swimmer's age group is determined by the swimmer's age as of May 31st. Swimmers must be at least 5 years old as of May 31, 2020 in order to register. Swimmers must practice at their assigned time, with their own age group and cannot join another age group's practice.

The Briarhills Dolphins are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. The registration fee covers all practice / meet costs, league fees, insurance, equipment, website, awards and coaching fees.

The registration fee for 2020 is TBD. In addition to the registration fee, swimmers must purchase their team suit, swim caps and goggles separately.

Practices are held at the Briarhills Swimming Pool - 14300 Briarhills Parkway.

If you are new to the team or need another suit, we will have two fitting days at our pool in May where suits can be tried on and purchased. Team suits are mandatory and are required to be worn at each meet and are optional for practice.

Did you know? Other than our paid coaches, our team is ran and operated 100% by PARENT VOLUNTEERS!

That means every family is required to volunteer in some form or fashion. You will have the opportunity to select your job preference during registration. It takes a lot of volunteers behind the scenes for each meet to run smoothly and efficiently. The team cannot function without YOU!

**Failure to fulfill your volunteer commitment may result in your family losing eligibility to early register with our team the following year.

Volunteering is a fun way to interact with other parents and our swimmers! We need your help!

Swimmers that compete in at least 2 meets will receive a participation trophy at the awards party held at the end of the season.

Special awards will be given by the coaches to the female and male most improved, most spirited and MVP swimmer for each age group. A swimmer of the year trophy will also be awarded to one female and one male swimmer by the coaches.

Please direct your questions to our wonderful coaches or committee members. However, do not distract coaches during practice. Please wait until the end of practice if you have a quick question or for longer discussions, please e-mail or call. If you have a general question or concern please email Weekly updates will be posted on our website and also via e-mails.

If practice is delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather, the "Weather Updates" page of our website will let you know. We will try to keep you informed by emails as well but when in doubt, visit the website for the most up to date status.
