LOP Entry Passes and Other Important Information
Dear Dolphins,
With all this rain today it may not feel like we are getting very close to our first day of practice but we are! The official start to our 2019 season begins next Wednesday, May 15th. We hope all of our Dolphins are eager and ready!
We have some important news to tell you before we see you at the first day of practice. I know it is lengthy but please read all of the information below.
Entry Passes (Non-LOP Residents)
If you do NOT live in Lakes of Parkway (LOP), please go to the guard station at the entrance of the neighborhood this week and pick up your swim team entry pass. Please pick up your pass during the following hours:
Tomorrow (Wednesday, the 8th) BEFORE 3 pm
Thursday and Friday BEFORE noon
NOT AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP ON THE WEEKEND
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (next week) BEFORE 3 pm
You will need to provide your last name and your drivers license. Passes are only valid during practice times and cannot be used at any other hours of the day.
For practices, display your pass when you enter and the guards will automatically wave you through. You should not need to give your information or show your ID each time.
If you arrive without a pass, you can still gain entry by providing your last name and drivers license but this is highly discouraged as it slows down traffic and will delay your entry.
Please leave early and allow plenty of time. Expect long lines to enter especially for the 7/8 age groups and 9/10 age groups. Give yourself plenty of time so you are not late to practice.
Carpool / Walkers / Bikers (Non-LOP Residents)
To avoid long lines at the LOP entrance gate, we highly encourage swimmers to carpool or consider walking or riding your bike to the pool.
Bikers and Walkers – please use the sidewalk at all times. Enter through the pedestrian entrance gate to the west of the vehicle entrance gates. You should be able to enter without a pass or speaking with the guards. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER WHERE VEHICLES ARE ENTERING.
Newcomer’s Meeting THIS SATURDAY
We will be having an informational newcomer’s meeting this Saturday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Briarhills Park (14300 Briarhills Parkway). This meeting is for new parents only. We will go over everything you need to know about swim team and answer any questions you may have.
If you are planning to attend the meeting, please RSVP by going to the calendar page on our website, selecting “Newcomer’s Meeting” and then clicking on the green RSVP button.
If it is raining on Saturday, I will email those that have RSVP'd with an alternative location.
First Week of Practice
Please plan on arriving to practice 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled practice time and allow plenty of time for getting through the entrance gates. Practices start precisely on time and swimmers should be ready to go – cover ups and shoes off and goggles on.
For practices, female swimmers should be in a one piece suit and male swimmers may wear swim trunks, jammers or briefs. Rash guards are allowed during practice however they are not allowed to be worn at the meets. All swimmers must wear goggles. Swim caps are optional.
Don’t forget your towel, water and sunscreen!
Parents, please do not speak to the swimmers or coaches during practice. You may give a message to one of the board members on deck and we will deliver the message to your swimmer or coach.
A Few Rules to Follow
No children are allowed in the baby pool or on the slides or diving boards at any time.
Please pick up your swimmer promptly after their practice. The coaches are not responsible for watching children outside of the pool.
Please use the bathroom stalls for changing. All swimmers should change in private and not in common areas.
Please clean up after yourself. Throw away trash and make sure to gather all of your belongings.
Inclement Weather
If it is lightly raining, we will still practice. If there is thunder and/or lightning we may delay practice or cancel it. Weather updates will be posted on the website under the “Weather Updates” tab. If practice is cancelled or delayed, an email will also be sent to you so please monitor both the website and email on rainy days.
Practice Attendance
If your swimmer needs to miss practice here and there, it is not necessary to let us know. We understand that you may not be able to attend every practice. If you plan to miss several days in a row due to an extenuating circumstance, please do notify us.
Team Suits
A-Gleam Swimwear will be fitting our team with their suits at the pool on Monday, May 20th during practice times. There is no need to go to the store – they are coming to us! This is already included in your registration cost, so everyone on the team will receive a suit. Team suits MUST be worn to every meet. They can also be worn to practice but it is not required.
Thank you for taking the time to read this information. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pool next week! Go Dolphins!
